Road construction doesn't usually affect bicycle trails, but work on Hwy. 36/Hilton Trail project will impact riders on the Gateway Trail. That also include in-line skaters and walkers.

The tunnel that allows cyclists to pass under Hwy. 36 on the border of Lake Elmo and Pine Springs will close at 10 p.m. Sunday until 5 a.m. May 20.

The weeklong closure is necessary to allow crews to perform drainage work along the trail.

The Gateway Trail is an 18-mile multi-use trail located between St. Paul and Washington County. The western portion of the trail runs through St. Paul, Maplewood and North St Paul, passing through Phalen-Keller Regional Park.
