The Gateway State Trail between L'Orient Street and Cayuga Street just west of I-35E in St. Paul has reopened to pedestrians and bicyclists.

The trail is anticipated to close again early Aug. 8 as crews complete area tree and brush removal. The trail will remain closed for several weeks for the work.

MnDOT reminds pedestrians and bicyclists are reminded to approach areas near construction with caution and to pay attention to posted signage.

The work is part of the I-35E Cayuga improvement project, which aims to reconstruct I-35E between University Avenue and Maryland Avenue, including replacement of the Cayuga Bridge, the Pennsylvania Avenue Bridge and the railroad bridges along I-35E.
