A Ramsey County District judge sentenced Shaileng Shong Lor to eight years in prison Tuesday for his role in the 2011 gang rape of a teenage girl in St. Paul.
Lor, 17, will also have to register as a sex offender for the rest of his life.
Lor pleaded guilty in July to charges of conspiring to rape the girl, 14, and to having committed the crime for the benefit of a gang. Nine defendants have been charged in the case. Four have pleaded guilty to the assault last November that prosecutors and police say were carried out by members or associates of the True Blood 22 (TB22) street gang.
Lor testified in July that he helped pull the girl from a vehicle and held her leg down after she was forced into a house and onto a mattress. Authorities charge that the defendants plied the girl with alcohol at a party before forcing her into a house in the 200 block of White Bear Av.
"Mr. Lor, I don't have any words of wisdom for you," said Ramsey County District Judge Mark Ireland.
Lor's parents and a handful of family members who attended the sentencing declined to comment.
