Toronto is averaging 3.29 goals per game and is led by former Gopher Phil Kessel, who is ranked fifth in the NHL in points (41) and seventh in goals (18). The Maple Leafs are 2-3 on a seven-game road trip that began Dec. 21.

Players to watch: Leafs G Jonathan Bernier is 3-1-3 against the Wild with a goals-against average of 1.11 and save percentage of .956. This season, Bernier is 15-8-3 overall, and his save percentage of .921 is eighth in the NHL. … Wild RW Jason Pominville has 49 points in 52 games against Toronto, his highest total against any opponent.

Numbers: Though Bernier has been solid, the Leafs make him work. They are allowing 34.4 shots per game, second-most in the NHL. … Toronto is 8-3-1 against Western Conference teams.
