Loons seek second victory on three-game homestand
Preview: United (7-11-1, ninth in the Western Conference) claimed three points Saturday to kick off this three-game, nine-day homestand, but coach Adrian Heath wasn't pleased with his team's inability to close out the game. The Loons have a chance to redeem that part against New England (7-5-7, fifth in the East) on Wednesday at TCF Bank Stadium. New England had its seven-game unbeaten run in the league ended Saturday, but the team has lost only one of its past six road league games and is averaging a point per away game.
Quotable: New England's first-year coach Brad Friedel "has had a really big influence on the team. Speaking to people I know from up there, they say it's unrecognizable internally as well as a club. So he's obviously put his stamp on the club, and they've started really, really well. But the one thing is, we watched the game at the weekend, (New England) played a long period of the game with 10 men and were still the better team. … Knowing Brad, the way he is, they're not going to take the defeat lying down. They'll come in, and they'll be organized, and they'll be motivated. That's the one thing I think that's been really apparent watching them. They've gone from minute one to 90, they've gone after the opposition. So I don't expect any difference." – United coach Adrian Heath.
Numbers: New England F Teal Bunbury, who grew up in Prior Lake, has scored a team-high 10 goals this season, which ties him for fifth in the league.
Absences: For United, M Sam Cronin (concussion) and D Jerome Thiesson (calf/Achilles) are out while F Abu Danladi (hamstring) is questionable. For New England, D Chris Tierney (ACL) is out while F Femi Hollinger-Janzen (elbow) is questionable. D Antonio Delamea, M Luis Caicedo and F Cristian Penilla are suspended.
