United FC gameday

Preview: United FC plays its first North American Soccer League home match since July 15, looking to beat FC Edmonton for a share of third place in the fall season standings.

United FC at a glance: United forward Christian Ramirez, the NASL player of the month in July, started off August with a goal in his fifth consecutive match. The Loons (2-2-2) fell 2-1 on Wednesday at New York, however. Defender Kevin Venegas was injured in the game, meaning both he and regular goalkeeper Sammy Ndjock are unlikely to play Saturday. Coach Manny Lagos said players must block out distractions and hold tight to their goals. "It's really important for us to keep the focus on how to continue to fight for results right now in a tough period," Lagos said.

FC Edmonton at a glance: The Eddies (3-2-2) won 2-0 against Indy Eleven on Wednesday. A victory at Minnesota gives them a shot at moving up to second place in the fall season standings. The lineup, beset by injuries, is close to full strength. Key attacking players such as Tomi Ameobi, Sainey Nyassi and Daryl Fordyce are back in action, complimenting the recent addition of El Salvador international Dustin Corea.
