According to the standard wisdom shared by many Beatles fans, McCartney is the lightweight tunesmith, Lennon the Serious Artist. Lennon was real! He was street! He was grit and honesty! Yes, that shines through every moment of "Whatever Gets You Through the Night," his duet with Elton John. Lennon's post-Beatles sainthood comes mostly from "Imagine," which you either think is a lovely piece of deep philosophy, or facile and banal. If you believe the former, then the idea of Lady Gaga sitting at the Most Holy Piano where "Imagine" was composed may give you a fit:

Oh, please. As long as she was wearing pants, what's the harm.
