The future of a development proposal at Franklin and Lyndale Avenues is now unclear after a project partner withdrew their application to the city.
The 89-unit apartment project was the subject of a fierce debate over development pressures in the wedge-shaped neighborhood, Lowry Hill East, formed by Hennepin and Lyndale Avenues. Neighbors argued it's six story height was too tall for the area and the extra residents would add congestion to the streets.
The project was recently approved by the city's planning commission on August 11.
City spokesman Casper Hill said that Theros Realty II, the owner of several parcels, withdrew their application on Tuesday. Whether the project will be somehow refreshed is not clear.
James Theros declined to comment when contacted by phone Wednesday afternoon. Don Gerberding, the developer, did not respond to a message seeking comment.
