If you didn't know him from Micawber's Bookstore (and how could you not?) you might have known him from the old Hungry Mind. Hans Weyandt has been in the bookselling business a long time. He left Micawber's three years ago and has been taking care of his kids (his wife has a busy job), slinging books now and then at Moon Palace Books, and serving food at Sea Salt (which he once noted was way, way harder than working in a bookstore).

But he missed bookselling, and when Milkweed Editions announced it was going to open a bookstore in the Open Book building, well.... You see where this is going.

Milkweed has announced that Weyandt will manage Milkweed Books, which will open Sept. 6 at 1011 Washington Av. S. This is good news for Milkweed, good news for Weyandt and good news for all of us who trusted Weyandt's judgment and opinion on all things literary. (I should note here that he does the occasional book review for our books pages.)

Weyandt is also the editor of "Read This!," an anthology of recommendations from booksellers across the country published by Coffee House Press. (Our story is here.)
