Haunting the booths, reading in bookstores, listening intently in conference halls, even (gasp) hanging out in bars--writers are everywhere.

MSU-Mankato's MFA in Creative Writing alumni from the past twenty years gathered at Blackie's to catch up and socialize. Director of Creative Writing and AWP Board Member Rick Robbins organized the event, which was attended by about fifty faculty and alumni, coming in from around the country. They celebrated some recent alumni achievements, such as Bronson Lemur's Minnesota Book Award nomination for his memoir, "The Last Deployment," Scott Wrobel's new short story collection "Cul-de-Sac," Tom Maltman's forthcoming novel, "Little Wolves," and Kris Bigalk's new poetry collection, "Repeat the Flesh in Numbers." FILE -- A rent deposit slot at an apartment complex in Tucker, Ga., on July 21, 2020. As an eviction crisis has seemed increasingly likely this summer, everyone in the housing market has made the same plea to Washington: Send money — lots of it — that would keep renters in their homes and landlords afloat.
