People who haven't so much as said boo to me all year at least smile now when walking down the hall at work. The only long faces I see are whiskered leftovers from unsuccessful deer hunters. Everybody else, young old, lib dem or republican makes no matter, from the anti establishment crowd to the power to the people are up beat. Lutheran or Catholic people have smiles on there faces and there even slipping on the same sidewalks. I saw a Norwegian nod. It may be cold, winter, and one tough economy up here but man is it friendly season. Folks are so tired there giving up on being crabby. Guys are calling about ice fishing and all the firewood chatter has been split stacked and piled. One lady I know said she is in for four months of forced hibernation and she is thrilled. She just wants lots of snow and hot chocolate. She said there are no more bugs, as in mosquito's, lady bugs, army worms, or wood ticks. It's her reason for loving winter. Tree stands have grown quicker than a forest with cut evergreens. It's hard to find a door knob without a wreath. Ice skating rinks have been boarded, flooded and all there missing is the kids. Maybe it's the crisp cool air but folks are mighty chipper of late. I'm not a milk drinker but the milk aisle is abit fatter with cartons of egg nog. I like what goes in the egg nog and most of my buddies have been very generous in there poured offerings of late. This weekend I aim to find my portable mistletoe, knock the twelve month old dust off that and see if it still works. Those little red kettles have been ringing up a storm. So has Mother Nature and her timing of late has been perfect. Its time for snow and we got some. The kind you can USE, for snow shoeing and skiing and snow balls big enough to make a snow man or snow balls. Two Friday nights in a row after I got safely home, I woke to snow. Then it blowed, but I didn't care. I lit the fire in the fireplace and just eased into a good nights down comforter of breakfast sleep. Store fronts look like they mean business. I haven't seen such decorating from merchants in many a year. Red Christmas curtains all puffed up with cotton fluffed snow and blue twinkley sidewalk lights all lit at night just put some cheer in the neighbor hood and maybe there trying harder to get me to buy, so I'm gonna buy into it, Just like every smiling red cheeked face I've seen lately. So be careful out side when your walking around on all those slippery roads, and sidewalks, you may have to wave at someone with a big smile and keep this friendly stuff moving along.
