A 13-year-old Fridley boy was in police custody Monday after intervening in a fight between his parents and stabbing his father in the chest, according to the Anoka County Sheriff's Office.
The wounded man, 47, was taken by ambulance to Hennepin County Medical Center, where he was listed in critical condition, Cmdr. Paul Sommer said in a news release.
The boy is at the Lino Lakes Juvenile Detention Center while the case is reviewed.
Fridley police responded early Monday to a call of a "heavy domestic" in the 5200 block of Lincoln Street NE.
According Sommer, "it was apparent that a domestic argument had been taking place among several adults in the home, including a husband and wife who had been consuming alcoholic beverages."
When the argument escalated to a physical altercation, the boy attacked his father with the knife, Sommer said.
The case is being investigated by the Sheriff's Office and Fridley police.
