Edina, ranked No. 8 in Class 4A in boys' basketball needed two overtimes to beat Bloomington Jefferson 72-64.
This was the Hornets first game in a recently completed activity center at their high school. Previously, they had played at the Edina Community Center.
Edina's Jacob Hutson scored the first points on the new court from the middle of the paint within seconds of the opening tip. The sophomore post player finished with 17.
Mike Evens had a game-high 19 points for the Jaguars.
Jack Middleton and Luke Glenna scored 15 and 14 points, respectively for the Hornets.
Apple Valley 89, Shakopee 81: Tre Jones scored 30 points to lead the Eagles to a win over the Sabers. The Duke University signee scored 26 of those points in the second half. Ely Hendrickson made all of his 21 points on seven three-pointers. Caleb Druvenga led Shakopee with 24 points.
Holy Family 85, Jordan 55: The Class 2A, No. 8-ranked Fire made 20 three-point shots in beating the Hubmen. Lincoln Cizek had eight of those threes and the senior finished with 28 total points. Nathan Hendler added 20. Eric Tiedman had 17 points for Jordan.
Monticello 71, Big Lake 55: Matt Todd had 33 points to lead the Magic past the Hornets. The senior is the third leading scorer in the metro, averaging 30.4 points per game.
