Mahtomedi rallied from a large deficit to defeat visiting Class 4A, No. 8 Tartan 58-52 on Friday night in boys' basketball. The Zephyrs, No. 8 in Class 3A, trailed by as much as 17 late in the first half but started making three-pointers to climb back into the game.
Andy Voyen led the Zephyrs with 19 points and Parker Fox had 13. Jordan Thompson and Noah Whalen led the Titans with 13 points each.
Wayzata 81, Hopkins 55: Ryan Lindberg scored 20 points to lead the Class 4A, No. 4 Trojans past the visiting No. 6 Royals. Gavin Baumgartner had 17 points, Jacob Boeninga 15 and Drew Galinson 14 for the Trojans. Ishmael El-Amin of the Royals led the all scorers with 24 points and teammate Blaise Beauchamp had 12.
Minneapolis Washburn 77, Richfield 75: Terrell Adams scored 27 points to lead the Millers past the visiting Spartans. Damon Neubert had 10 points for the Millers. Emmanuel Blackshear led the Spartans with 21 points and Antonio Maddox and Devin Wade-Henderson had 15 each.
Breck 71, St. Paul Academy 61: Kerwin Walton scored 32 points to lead the Mustangs past the visiting Spartans. David Roddy added 18 points for the Mustangs. Tommy Dicke led the Spartans with 22 points and Gus Grunau had 16.
Girls' Basketball
Prior Lake 89, Apple Valley 82: McKenna Hofschild scored 37 points and Riley Wheatcraft 21 points to lead the host Lakers to an upset of the Class 4A, No. 3 Eagles. Brooke Glass added 10 points for the Lakers. Brynne Rolland led Apple Valley with 31 points, Lyndsey Robson had 26 points and Sara Teske 10.
Elk River 65, St. Michael-Albertville 62: The Class 4A, No. 2 Elks overcame a five-point halftime deficit to defeat the visiting No 6 Knights. Danielle Lachmiller led the Elks with 16 points, Gabi Haack had 14 and Sidney Wentland 11. Rae Johnson scored 21 points to lead the Knights.
Lizzy Heil added 15 points and Mackenzie Kramer 10 for St. Michael-Albertville.
