Charlie Gerard and Walker Duehr scored goals 62 seconds apart in the opening period as No. 2 Minnesota State Mankato rallied to beat No. 20 Lake Superior State 2-1 on Friday night in Mankato in the opener of their best-of-three WCHA semifinal series.

The Lakers (23-12-2) took a 1-0 lead on Diego Cuglietta's goal at 1:37 of the first.

Dryden McKay made 20 saves for the Mavericks (30-7-2), Nick Kossoff 29 for the visitors.

No. 4 Minnesota Duluth 2, Omaha 1 (OT): Nick Swaney scored at 13:42 of overtime for the Bulldogs (22-11-2) in the first game of their best-of-three series with the Mavericks (9-23-3). Riley Tufte had the other UMD goal, in the fourth minute of the second period. Omaha pulled its goalie, and with 56 seconds left in the third tied it when Kevin Conley scored. Hunter Shepard made 27 saves for the Bulldogs, Evan Weninger 39 for the Mavericks.

No. 1 St. Cloud State 5, Miami (Ohio) 2: Nick Poehling and Robby Jackson scored goals in the first period to lead the Huskies (28-4-3) to a win over the visiting RedHawks in the opener of their series. The victory extended SCSU's unbeaten streak to a Division I-best 12 games (11-0-1). Ben Lown of Miami (11-22-4) cut the lead to 2-1 in the 12th minute of the second period, but Ryan Poehling, Nick's brother, answered a little over three minutes later. The RedHawks' River Rymsha scored 24 seconds into the third to make it a one-goal game again, but the Huskies got the last two goals.

No. 8 Denver 2, No. 19 North Dakota 0: Tyson McLellan scored his second goal of the season and Griffin Mendel his first as the Pioneers (20-10-5) edged the Fighting Hawks (18-16-2). McLellan scored with one minute left in the first period. Denver's Filip Larsson made 32 saves, UND's Peter Thome 15.
