• NORTH DAKOTA 2, VERMONT 0: Johnny Simonson scored midway through the second period and Bryn Chuzyk early in the third, on a power play, as No. 1 UND (3-0-2) beat the Catamounts (1-3) on the road. Matt Hrynkiw got the shutout with 27 saves; Mike Santaguida had 39 stops for Vermont.

• MINNESOTA DULUTH 3, NOTRE DAME 3: Sam Herr's power-play goal at 7:32 of the third gave the Irish a tie with No. 5 UMD in South Bend, Ind. The Bulldogs (2-1-1) had taken a 3-2 lead on Austyn Young's goal two minutes earlier. Austin Farley and Alex Iafallo scored first-period goals to put UMD ahead 2-0. Notre Dame answered in the second period, on goals by Justin Wade and Bobby Nardella, to tie it. Wade's goal was shorthanded, Nardella's unassisted. Kasimir Kaskisuo had 26 saves for UMD, Cal Petersen 39 for Notre Dame.

• QUINNIPIAC 5, ST. CLOUD STATE 2: No. 14 Bobcats (5-0) scored four goals in the last 9½ minutes of the second period to upset the No. 9 Huskies (4-1) in St. Cloud. Travis St. Denis had two of those goals. Judd Peterson scored twice for the SCSU, once shorthanded, to put the Huskies ahead 2-0.

• MINNESOTA STATE MANKATO 3, BEMIDJI STATE 2: Brad McClure and Teddy Blueger scored early third-period goals as the Mavericks (1-4, 1-0) beat the Beavers (1-2-1, 0-1) in a WCHA opener in Bemidji.

• PROVIDENCE 2, OHIO STATE 1: The No. 3 Friars (3-0-1) edged the visiting Buckeyes (0-5) after taking a 2-0 lead on goals by Tom Parisi and Anthony Florentino. Matthew Weis scored on a power play midway through the second period for the Buckeyes who were outshot only 30-27.

• PENN STATE 8, AMERICAN INTERNATIONAL 3: Chase Berger scored two of the first three goals and also had two assists as the Nittany Lions (3-1) routed the visiting Yellow Jackets (0-3).

• MICHIGAN STATE 2, LAKE SUPERIOR STATE 0: J.T. Stenglein and Thomas Ebbing scored goals late in the first and second periods as the Spartans (2-3-1) beat the Lakers (2-4) in East Lansing. Jake Hildebrand made 21 saves for a shutout.

• WISCONSIN 5, FERRIS STATE 5: After squandering a 4-1 lead in the third period, the visiting Badgers (0-2-3) tied the score 5-all on Tim Davison's first goal of the season with 20 seconds left. Seamus Malone and Jake Linhart had power-play goals and Grant Besse and Will Johnson even-strength goals just 30 seconds apart in Wisconsin's four-goal second period. Gerald Mayhew had two goals for the Bulldogs (1-2-2).

• MICHIGAN 5, UNION 5: The No. 11 Wolverines (2-0-1) scored four goals in the third period to tie the No. 18 Dutchmen (2-0-3). Justin Selman got Michigan's final goal with 30 seconds left with an extra attacker on the ice. It was his second goal of the game. J.T. Compher had three assists for Michigan. Mark Dufour had two goals for host Union.
