Try this one out.

So we imagine some of the regulars have skipped town, skipped work, skipped SOMETHING to take advantage of what looks to be a long, glorious weekend. Those who have chosen to stick around, though, will be rewarded this morning by learning this bizarre and fairly meaningless stat! Are you ready:

Jason Kubel's combined statistical line in Nick Blackburn's past three starts: 5-for-11 (.455 BA), 3 HRs, 13 RBI.

Jason Kubel's combined statistical line in all other games this season: 26-for-122 (.213 BA), 2 HRs, 14 RBI.

This leads us to only one conclusion: Jason Kubel is Nick Blackburn's Baseball Buddy, and vice-versa. Keep in mind, too, that two of the games were against the Yankees -- including last night's 8-2 stomping, when Kubel had two homers and five RBI in a game the Twins, and their fans, desperately needed.

Questions:

*Is Kubel getting hot, or only in Blackburn's games?

*Is Blackburn simply hot, or is he turning into a top-of-the-rotation guy who can be counted upon?

*Would a loss to the Yankees last night fundamentally changed your outlook on this season?
