You know I'm the first person to say that free financial advice should be taken with a grain of salt. But not this time.
The National Association of Personal Financial Advisors is teaming up with Kiplinger's Personal Finance magazine for its annual ask-a-planner event.
On Tuesday, members around the country will be available to answer your questions from 8am to 5pm central time. Normally, these fee-only advisers charge upwards of $150 per hour.
And while the event is called "Jump-start your retirement plan," there's nothing in the news release that says you can't ask away about college savings, cash flow issues, you name it.
Golden Valley financial planner Dana Hornquist participated on Friday. I was out sick and didn't have a chance to mention the first opportunity for free answers. He said he connected with 49 callers throughout the day.
To participate, call 1-888-919-2345 or visit www.kiplinger.com/links/jumpstart.
