PHILADELPHIA -- Rookie quarterback Joe Webb played a far better game than anyone could have expected on Tuesday night in leading the Vikings to a 24-14 victory over the Eagles at Lincoln Financial Field.
But coach Leslie Frazier made it clear afterward that if veteran Brett Favre can pass his concussion test before Sunday's regular-season finale in Detroit that the future Hall of Famer will get the start.
"If Brett can go, Brett will be our quarterback for sure, if he were able to pass the concussion test," Frazier said. "So it wouldn't be an issue for me or our team if Brett were able to go."
Favre did not pass the test before Tuesday's game but he seemed in good spirits in the locker room afterward, joking with teammates and various members of the Vikings staff as he dressed.
Another player who now will have to pass the concussion exam will be wide receiver Sidney Rice, who was injured in the third quarter on a late hit by Eagles cornerback Asante Samuel. Frazier confirmed that Rice suffered a concussion and the fact this is a very short week for the Vikings won't help matters.
Meanwhile, Eagles quarterback Michael Vick suffered a quadriceps contusion on the first play of the game and he played like a guy who was hurt. Vick was intercepted once and lost two fumbles.
"I just tried to tolerate it throughout the game and I did," Vick said. "I have a strong will to win and I'll do anything to win a football game. I just tried to go out there and just get through it."
