ON ENERGY

Supports a cap and trade system for regulating carbon emissions. Would like to see the government invest more in renewable fuels research.

ON IMMIGRATION:

Wants to see more consequences for employers of illegal immigrants and a better thought-out guest worker programs, especially for seasonal workers. Supports citizenship for immigrants in good standing.

ON IRAQ:

Would like the countries surrounding Iraq to participate in a regional conference to develop a long-term plan for the country.

ON HEALTH CARE:

Endorses universal health care, which would be accomplished by using federal funds to back state-run programs. Also wants coverage offered to children under 18 through a single-payer system.

ON HIGHER EDUCATION:

Would develop a $5,000 per child, per year tax credit for college families earning up to $200,000 a year.

ON VETERANS:

Wants full funding for the Veterans Administration, less red tape for veterans seeking benefits and more attention to mental health.
