Fox Sports North will expand its hockey coverage beyond the Gophers. The network announced an extensive college hockey package in association with the Gophers, the National Collegiate Hockey Conference and the Western Collegiate Hockey Conference on Wednesday afternoon.

The schedule will include 21 regular-season games including 14 Gophers broadcasts and feature regional programs Minnesota Duluth, Minnesota State, Bemidji State, St. Cloud State and North Dakota. The WCHA semifinals and championship game round out the televised package.

Minnesota State at Minnesota Duluth will kick off the coverage on Oct. 17.

The Gophers’ schedule now includes 29 TV dates. The seven games currently scheduled without a TV partner can be picked up at any time. Coach Don Lucia expected the Boston College road game to be among the likely candidates. The home team/conference is responsible for TV rights.
