Fox reporter goes to NY court in bid to keep sources secret on Colo. Theater shooting.

NEW YORK — Lawyers for a Fox News reporter who is being asked to name her sources in a story on the Colorado theater shooting want a New York appeals court to quash a subpoena that requires her to appear at a hearing.

The lawyers for New York City-based reporter Jana (JAHN'-ah) Winter made their arguments Wednesday.

Attorneys for James Holmes are trying to learn the identity of her confidential sources she cited in a 2012 article that said he had sent violent drawings to a psychiatrist before the attack at a movie theater in Aurora, Colo., in July. They say whoever gave her the information violated a gag order.

Winter's attorneys say New York's shield laws protect journalists' sources.
