Three Minnesota restaurants have been handed the James Beard Foundation's America's Classics award, which recognizes regional, locally owned restaurants for "their timeless appeal and quality food that reflects the character of their communities." The three restaurants are Al's Breakfast (2004), Pickwick Restaurant & Pub (2007) and Kramarczuk's (2013).

And Franklin Street Bakery co-owner Wayne Kostroski was named the foundation's Humanitarian of the Year (2010) for his charitable work with Taste of the NFL.
