The Tunnel to Towers Foundation paid off the mortgage of fallen Burnsville firefighter and paramedic Adam Finseth.

Finseth was shot and killed while assisting a SWAT team with a domestic disturbance call in February 2024. Two police officers were also killed on the call. The suspect during the call died of a self-inflicted gunshot.

Each year the foundation pays off dozens of mortgages of law enforcement officers and firefighters who lose their lives in the line of duty. Finseth is survived by his wife, Tara Finseth, and two young children.

“Having our mortgage paid in full allows me to focus more on the security of our children and their future,” Tara said, according to media accounts. “It also allows our children to have experiences that honor their father’s memory and hopefully instill the kindness, love of life, and gratitude that their father modeled every day.”

Finseth was born in Faribault, Minn., and grew up in Rochester. He joined the army shortly after 9/11 and served two tours in Iraq before earning fire science and paramedic degrees. In 2019, he joined the Burnsville Fire Department. He eventually joined the SWAT team as a paramedic.
