A six-speaker panel will focus on how Minneapolis trains and supports its teachers and principals.

The May 14 event will feature Sandra Vargas, The Minneapolis Foundation; Christopher Orr; an education group lobbyist; Susan Heegard, Bush Foundation; Emily Puetz, academic chief for Minneapolis Public Schools; Louise Sundin, former president of the Minneapolis Federation of Teachers; and Nathan Eklund, a consultant.

The forum is scheduled for 7 p.m. at Plymouth Congregational Church, 1900 Nicollet Av. S. It is the second in a planned series of four events focused on education reform organized by the League of Women Voters of Minneapolis. The first forum in April concentrated on the racial achievement gap.
