Sophomore Mitch MacMillan, who recently left the St. Cloud State hockey team, has transferred to North Dakota.
He will not be eligible to play for UND until January of 2012 but can start practicing with the team. That alone, will help the team with no nickname because of all the injuries it is had this season.
North Dakota has been one and two skaters short in recent games.
At UND, MacMillan will join his brother Mark, a freshman this season. Mitch MacMillan had five assists in 14 games at SCSU the first half of the season.
The MacMillans are both from Penticton, British Columbia.
HAKSTOL SAYS
"We are finding ways to win games any way we can," said UND coach Dave Hakstol, who needs two victories to reach 200. A sweep of the Gophers this weekend at the Ralph would get him to that milestone.
North Dakota is 8-2-1 since being swept by the Gophers in early November.
