Anybody want to buy a used light bulb factory?

807 Broadway, which Minneapolis Public Schools used as its headquarters for the past 82 years, is up for sale.

It's zoned light industrial with an overlay that allows such potential uses as offices, other businesses, institutional use, residences or light industry. The city, which is handling the sale for the school district, is working with the neighborhood to discuss priorities for reusing the complex.

The northeast Minneapolis property covers almost 253,000 square feet, or more than four pro-size football fields, including an adjacent parking lot. The 1914 brick administrative building has the largest space, but the complex includes four auxiliary buildings or additions.

The property opened up when the district last summer moved into its first scratch-built headquarters in its history at 1250 Broadway in north Minneapolis.

After posting more info Dec. 17, the city will accept purchase offers through Feb. 22.
