Jim says: With the Northwest Suburban split into bigger school/smaller school divisions, Osseo has been a giant-killer. The smaller-school Orioles play their third consecutive game against a bigger-school rival. Running backs Bridge Tusler and Jaimen Hampton will make it three victories.

Pick: Osseo 27, Blaine 23

David says: It's easy to get lost in both teams' offensive abilities but Blaine's defense decides this game. Since allowing 14 first-quarter points in Week 1, the Bengals have given up just one touchdown -- in garbage time -- through the ensuing seven quarters.

Pick: Blaine 28, Osseo 14

Jim says: With great talent and speed, DeLaSalle, the No. 1-ranked team in Class 4A, would be a formidable foe for larger schools. And don't think the Islanders have forgotten about losing to St. Croix Lutheran last year after beating the Crusaders seven times in a row.

Jim says: Last Friday, Eastview proved to be its traditional hard-nosed self, holding Wayzata to a field goal in the first half before falling 24-7. The Lightning will pose Lakeville North's stiffest test to date. But the Panthers might be Class 6A's best team.

David says: With a wealth of returning standouts, the Panthers figured to be sound defensively. What's surprising is their offensive potency and balance. Eastview won't roll over at home but the Panthers will pull away.
