A decision is expected next month on whether a Fortune 500 company will locate in Shakopee.
The City Council last week approved a tax subsidy in hopes that Emerson Process Management will bring hundreds of jobs to the vacant ADC building.
The company would get property tax rebates adding up to $590,496 over nine years as part of a $6 million package, which involves Scott County, the Burnsville school district and the state.
Emerson would finish the never-completed building and bring in 500 new jobs along with perhaps 1,200 spinoff jobs, city officials say.
The company's arrival could help the city's flagging development picture. That's because up to 30 percent of the workers are expected to locate in town.
The 500,000-square-foot building and surrounding 100-acre site have been vacant for a decade since ADC fell on hard times and pulled out of the complex at Shakopee's Valley Park Business Center near Highways 169 and 101.
