Heat appears to be limiting the food spread in downtown Minneapolis Monday, with food trucks declining to fire up the grills.
"It's real hot out. And Monday's kind of a slower day, and the fair's going on," said Maria Zarkha, a manager for World Street Kitchen, which won't be sending its truck to Marquette Avenue for Monday's lunch hour.
A food truck-tracking website, http://mspfoodtrucks.com/, indicates that many food trucks won't be out Monday.
The official Twin Cities temperature at 11 a.m. was 88, and heading for 97. The record for the date is 94, set in 1948.
Zarkha said World Street Kitchen, whose restaurant at 2743 Lyndale Av. S. in Minneapolis is operating as usual, won't make a decision on whether to run its truck downtown Tuesday until Tuesday morning. Tuesday's predicted high temperature is 96, shy of the 99-degree record for the date.
