Follow-up: Mille Lacs walleye management

Last week on this page former DNR fisheries biologist Dick Sternberg offered his take on the Lake Mille Lacs fishery and what's needed to restore its walleyes. The Star Tribune invited the DNR and the Great Lakes Indian Fish and Wildlife Commission (GLIFWC) to offer their views. DNR officials declined, saying their position is explained on the agency's website (dnr.state.mn.us/ millelacslake/index.html). A spokeswoman for GLIFWC said the bands are considering a response.
