If you're a fly angler bored with the long winter and waiting desperately for open water, here's an option:
The Fly Fishing Film Tour is coming to the Parkway Theatre in Minneapolis March 20 at 6 p.m. Billed as a traveling collection of fly fishing movies that "aim to inspire and invigorate anglers by showcasing quality films in a true theater environment,'' the tour will feature films of both saltwater and freshwater fishing.
The tour is sponsored locally by The Fly Angler in Fridley. Ticket cost is $12 purchased from the shop, or $15 at the door or online at www.flyfishingfilmtour.com.
Destinations featured include Australia, Patagonia, Mexico and Canada, as well as Wyoming, Ohio, Alaska, Colorado and the Florida everglades. The mini-film festival lasts two hours and is hosted by a live emcee.
Door prizes will be given away, and entries can be made for a grand prize 10-day trip for two to Patagonia. The Fly Angler will also give away a guided Mississippi River smallmouth trip.
A portion of proceeds will be given to cold-water conservation efforts.
