Florida's Dry Season

April 29, 2009 at 11:30AM

Florida is well into its dry season which usually expands across April, Mayand early June. Not until late June and July do the very humid trade windsbecome well established at which time there is daily thunderstorm activity.Normal rainfall in Tampa for April and May combined is 4.65 inches. Comparethat to the normal for July and August which is just over 14 inches, and itbecomes clear that spring is Florida's dry season.

Needless to say, the scarcity of rainfall creates a high fire danger. Anabundance of dried-out vegetation will provide any fire all the fuel it needsto become a real menace.
