Five people were injured after an SUV blew through a red light in Blaine Friday evening, striking a Metro Mobility bus.

The State Patrol responded to the intersection of Hwy. 65 and 99th Avenue around 7 p.m. on a report of a serious crash. A 36-year-old Coon Rapids woman driving east on 99th Avenue missed a red light while suffering a medical emergency and slammed into a Metro Mobility bus traveling south on Hwy. 65.

Traffic cameras in the area showed a Metro Mobility bus lying on its side with severe front-end damage. Its two occupants were taken to Mercy Hospital with noncritical injuries.

The SUV driver, identified as Megan Olson, was driving her husband, Mitchell Olson, and 2-year-old son, Hunter, at the time. All three were taken to HCMC with minor injuries. Megan and Hunter Olson were wearing their seat belts, authorities said.

Alcohol is not thought to be a factor in the crash. The incident remains under investigation.
