Midweek farmers market

Union Depot in St. Paul's Lowertown recently launched a midweek farmers market where residents and workers can pick up locally made goods and seasonal produce over the lunch hour. As many as 15 vendors will offer artisanal products, homemade jams, baked goods and more. 10 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. Wednesdays through Dec. 19. 214 E. 4th St., St. Paul. uniondepot.org.

Attracting hummingbirds

The Audubon Chapter of Minneapolis will present a talk with Kim Risen on the fast-fluttering birds. Learn about ruby-throated hummingbirds, and how to attract them to your yard and photograph them. Risen will talk about their nests and show photos of varieties of hummingbirds from Canada to South America. 7 p.m. Dec. 4. Free. Beth El Synagogue, 5225 W. Barry St., St. Louis Park.

Holiday entertaining

Indoor bulb gardens

If cold weather is already giving you the blues, add fragrance and color to your world with a bulb garden. Jenn Hovland, owner of Fleur de Louise Flower Studio, will lead a class on easy-to-grow bulbs.
