'The Root Beer Lady'

Once proclaimed "the loneliest woman in America" by the Saturday Evening Post, Dorothy Molter was the last, non-Indigenous person to live in the Boundary Waters. Kim Schultz's solo play, presented in a virtual reading that's being streamed, argues that the iconoclast was not lonely at all. (History Theatre, 30 E. 10th St., St. Paul. $14-$50. Lolo's Ghost

They'll be joined by former Delilahs frontman Aaron Seymour's cheerily named new act Bleek & Grimm. Upcoming shows include Rich Mattson & the Northstars on May 14 and Gini Dodds on May 21. (5-8:30 p.m. Friday. Free, Mill Valley Market, 1221 Theodore Wirth Pkwy., Mpls.)

JON BREAM

'Rhapsody in Black'

LeLand Gantt mines his own remarkable life journey into a solo performance. Available to stream through the Ordway Center website, the piece shares his narrative about making it off the streets of McKeesport, Pa., and then spending much of his career combating racism as a Black actor. Showing off an enormous range of voices and movement, Gantt transforms himself into the characters that populate his story along the way. (Free. Through Sunday, ordway.org.)
