Friday afternoon we had our first visit from Purple Finches, a species predicted to move south out of Canada this winter. We had two females at the feeders outside our dining room windows. One of the finches is in the top photo. In the second photo are a Purple Finch, bottom, a male House Finch above, and a cardinal to the left. The birds were eating black oil sunflower seeds.
