While there are plenty of serious music fans who still don't know them from Grizzly Bear, the National took something of a victory march halfway through last night's show at First Avenue, the first of two there. Introducing "Available," guitarist/bassist Aaron Dessner pointed to 7th Street Entry and said, "This is a really old song from when we played in that room over there. Literally, no one was there." Not only was he telling this to the first of two very sold-out crowds in the big room, he said it introducing one of the many songs in which more than half the fans seemed to know every word. It's been a while in the making, but the National has officially arrived, it seems. Click here to read the full review from last night. Come back after tonight's show and let us know how the two sets compared. Here's the opening night set list:

Runaway / Mistaken for Strangers / Anyone's Ghost / Bloodbuzz Ohio / Brainy / Slow Show / Squalor Victoria / Afraid of Everyone / Little Faith / All the Wine / Available / Conversation 16 / Apartment Story / Sorrow / Abel / England / Fake Empire ENCORE: Vanderlyle Crybaby Geeks / Secret Meeting / Mr. November / Terrible Love

As an eviction crisis has seemed increasingly likely this summer, everyone in the housing market has made the same plea to Washington: Send money — lots of it — that would keep renters in their homes and landlords afloat.
