First newborn in Twin Cities for 2018 arrives in Maplewood

A Maplewood hospital says it welcomed the Twin Cities' first newborn for 2018.

Jazlin Vang came into the world 45 minutes into the new year at St. John's Hospital in Maplewood. She weighed 5 pounds and 12 ounces.

Jazlin's parents are Vangmee Yang and Jor Vang, of North St. Paul.

On the other side of town at Hennepin County Medical Center in Minneapolis, Boa Nguyen, of Brooklyn Park, gave birth to Kalena Huynh Molina at 12:58 a.m. Monday. She weighed 6 pounds, 10 ounces.
