First lady Michelle Obama will rally Minnesotans with Democratic Gov. Mark Dayton and Sen. Al Franken on Oct. 21, the DFL Party announced on Wednesday.

The party described the event as a grassroots get-out-the-vote event but released few other details.

The first lady is one of a growing list of surrogates who have come to Minnesota to energize partisans.

This week, Republican Governors Association chairman Chris Christie visited a Columbia Heights charter school with Republican gubernatorial candidate Jeff Johnson and Republican Senate candidate Mike McFadden.

Earlier, former president Bill Clinton held an event with Dayton and Franken. Massachusetts Sen. Elizabeth Warren is also campaigning with Franken this weekend. Vice President Joe Biden will also visit the Eighth Congressional District on Oct. 23.

As an eviction crisis has seemed increasingly likely this summer, everyone in the housing market has made the same plea to Washington: Send money — lots of it — that would keep renters in their homes and landlords afloat.
