FIRST DISTRICT JUDICIAL CANDIDATES

LAWRENCE (LARRY) CLARK

Home: Red Wing

Age: 58

Experience: Nearly 22 years as Dakota County prosecutor of major crimes. Previously, 8 1/2 years as defense attorney, city prosecutor, Wisconsin district attorney.

Honors: Prosecutor of the Year Award from the International Association of Arson Investigators in 1998 for case involving murder of a 2-year-old.

Civic contributions: Two terms on Red Wing Human Rights Commission and former president of League of Minnesota Human Rights Commissions, current honorary board member. Trains sexual assault victim advocates.

TIMOTHY BLAKELY

Home: Eagan

Age: 47

Experience: Elected to First Judicial District, 1998. Seventeen years total experience as judge, attorney, adjunct professor.

Honors: Received NATO Medal for his work as a legal and political adviser for the U.S. Navy in Macedonia. In 2005, then-Lt. Cmdr. Blakely received Navy and Marine Corps Commendation Medal.

Civic contributions: Training presenter for Office of Justice Programs, Crime Victim Services. In military, deployment to former Yugoslav republic of Macedonia in 2002.
