A fire engine got caught in the crossfire of a drive-by shooting Friday afternoon in south Minneapolis.
Engine No. 5, which was carrying a crew of three firefighters, was struck by three to four bullets fired from a passing car as it turned a corner at 28th Street and Bloomington Avenue S. at 4:45 p.m.
The fire truck, which was returning from a call, was not the shooter's intended target, said Sgt. Catherine Michal, a Minneapolis Police Department spokeswoman.
One occupant of a car was shooting at another car driving in the opposite direction when the fire truck got caught in the middle, Michal said. No firefighters were hurt.
