Fire Drill

This performance duo, aka Emily Gastineau and Billy Mullaney, brings its latest curatorial effort to Fresh Oysters Performance Research, a studio space in the Phillips neighborhood of Minneapolis. Danielle Ross, from Portland, Ore., headlines with "It's Like This Out There, It's Like This in Here," born out of watching a performance of her last major work, "Togetherness," in 2014, as both artist and spectator. She uses that as a starting point to probe the many sides of performance and self. She will joined by three Twin Cities-based artists. Recent McKnight Fellowship recipient Megan Mayer will perform material from rejected grant applications; Holo Lue Choy offers a work about trauma and manipulation, and sculptor and performance-based artist Jordan Rosenow explores precocity and intimacy through the relationship between bodies and construction objects. (8 p.m. Fri.-Sat., 512 E. 24th St., Mpls., $10-$15 suggested donation, cash only. fire-drill.org.) SHEILA REGAN

FILE -- A rent deposit slot at an apartment complex in Tucker, Ga., on July 21, 2020. As an eviction crisis has seemed increasingly likely this summer, everyone in the housing market has made the same plea to Washington: Send money — lots of it — that would keep renters in their homes and landlords afloat.
