May 8, 2011 at 7:49PM

Dry weather with a mild, bright afternoon will hold sway over most of theEast on Monday. After a cool, even cold, start, temperatures will rebound beneath partial toperhaps full sunshine. Highs throughout the Mid Atlantic through northern NewYork state and western New England will reach the mid-60s to the mid-70s--notfar from what is normal for this time of year.

From Boston to Bangor and elsewhere in easternmost New England, a stormcentered well off shore will spark a few showers, yet there will also be breaksof sunshine.

Most of the East will hang on to its dry weather through at least Thursday evenas a slow day-to-day warmup sets in.
