The day after announcing the finalists for this year's Minnesota Book Awards, the Friends of the St. Paul Library have announced the finalists for the first Hognander Minnesota History Award.
The Hognander Award will be given every other year, and considers works of history published over a two-year period.
Here are the finalists:
"The Assassination of Hole in the Day," (Borealis Books) by Anton Treuer
"Food Will Win the War: Minnesota Crops, Cooks, & Conservation during World War I," (Minnesota Historical Society Press) by Rae Katherine Eighmey
"North Country: The Making of Minnesota," (University of Minnesota Press) by Mary Lethert Wingerd [note: this book was a winner of the Minnesota Book Award last year]
"The Pillsburys of Minnesota," (Nodin Press) by Lori Sturdevant, with George S. Pillsbury [also a finalist this year for a Minnesota Book award]
"Pioneer Modernists: Minnesota's First Generation of Women Artists," (Afton Press) by Julie L'Enfant [Also a finalist for a Minnesota Book Award this year]
