Postgame snapshot from Mall of America Field where the Vikings beat the Cardinals 34-10. Good news: When in doubt, give it to 28. Running back Adrian Peterson earned every cent of his paycheck this afternoon, proving why he is one of the premier playmakers in NFL history. Peterson had 86 rushing yards and three touchdowns in the first half alone and finished the day with 122 yards on 29 carries. That was especially significant given how shaky quarterback Donovan McNabb appeared throughout the afternoon. Peterson's scoring runs came from 4, 24 and 14 yards out. Bad news: McNabb did nothing to quiet his critics. He misfired on eight of his first 10 passes. Several of those were batted down. Several others skipped before reaching their intended target. McNabb's worst throw of the day came early in the fourth quarter when, with tight end Visanthe Shiancoe wide open in the flat, McNabb blooped a pass that landed four yards short of Shiancoe. For the day, McNabb was 10-for-21 for 169 yards. He added a 4-yard touchdown run in the first quarter. Extra point: In three home games at Mall of America Field this season, the Vikings have outscored opponents 65-3. Today they tied a team record with 28 first-quarter points and finished the first half with an unblowable 28-3 lead. Next up: The Vikings will travel to Chicago next week to play the Bears in a "Football Night in America" spotlight game. The Bears (2-2) will be coming off a short week; they play the Lions on Monday Night Football tomorrow.
Final gun report: Vikings 34, Cardinals 10
The Vikings get their first win of the season with a blowout of Arizona.
