Star Tribune reporter Anthony Lonetree sends this report from the field.
At 8 p.m., a reporter and photographer were "gathered 'round the fireside" at the University Club in St. Paul awaiting the arrival of Independence Party gubernatorial candidate Rob Hahn.
Earlier, club employees were unaware that Hahn would be at the club for the election returns. But his running mate, Tom Harens, confirmed by phone that they would be there about 8:15 p.m.
Harens, surprised to have gotten a call from a reporter at about 6:45 p.m. wondering about the candidates whereabouts, asked with a laugh whether the reporters had expected to see banners.
