Feet of Snow for the 2010 Winter Olympics Site

While a storm will continue to bring some coastal rain, mountain snow, and awintry mix to the Northwest U.S., the brunt of rain and mountain snow is beingdelivered to British Columbia, Canada. A storm train will keep targetingBritish Columbia through early next week.Feet of snow (up to 10 feet) will come down in the Whistler Blackomb, the sitefor the Olympic skiing events. The mountains are located about 2 hours awayfrom Vancouver, which will get a soaking rain from the storm pummeling theregion today and tonight.

Meanwhile, in the U.S., some freezing rain and a couple of additional inches ofsnow will make the major mountain passes like Snoqualmie in the WashingtonCascades extremely treacherous today. Rain will taper off to showers or end bythe evening in western Washington, western Oregon, and Northern California.
