Court will be in session today at the Warren E. Burger Federal Building in downtown St. Paul now that a three-year remodeling project is complete.
Judges and staff had been working in temporary quarters in a nearby building while the $70 million in improvements were made to the courthouse at 316 N. Robert Street.
The upgrades included the addition of four courtrooms and several conference rooms, improved lighting and acoustics, repairs to the heating and cooling system, and enhanced technology.
The building's interior and exterior also were given a facelift during the project that began in 2005.
The building was named after Warren E. Burger, a St. Paul native who was chief justice of the Supreme Court from 1969 until he retired in 1986. He died in 1995.
