FDA: Cardio Renew's drug claims must stop

October 15, 2010 at 2:54AM

An Apple Valley company that says its products can relieve gangrene, glaucoma and at least 30 other diseases was told to stop making "unlawful disease treatment and prevention claims," according to a letter issued Tuesday by the Food and Drug Administration (FDA).

Cardio Renew Inc. sells liquid "chelation therapy" by the names "Cardio Renew" and "Cardio Restore." The FDA said they must be proven safe and effective before they can be approved.

The agency also took issue with the company's testimonials, including: "No more chest pains at all." "My arthritis is gone." "[I] reduced the diabetes medication to half."

Kevin Raymond, a manager of the company, said the firm was unaware it was not in compliance and will work with the FDA to correct the problems.
